SHELTON, CT — The arrest of a Bridgeport man accused of threatening a Shelton resident led to the seizure of heroin, cocaine and a stolen gun, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said a man reported Monday a person known to him had sent him a threatening message and was coming to his house.

Though the man was not forthcoming with details, police were sent to the area. As they responded, they were told the person known to the man was outside his house in a red car, Kozlowsky said.

When officers arrived, they ordered the man to exit the car and come toward them. Instead, the man ran away and jumped in a nearby river, Kozlowsky said.

Officers were able to get the man out of the river and arrested him. Additionally, police found and seized 44 wax folds of heroin, approximately 11 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia from the man's car, Kozlowsky said.

Officers also found a gun with a banned large capacity magazine in the car. A check revealed the gun had been reported stolen in 2014, Kozlowsky said.

Tyronn Anyanwu, 32, of Bridgeport, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, stealing a firearm, possession of a large capacity magazine, sale of a narcotic substance, possession of a controlled substance, interfering and second-degree breach of peace.

Anyanwu was released after posting a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court later this month, Kozlowsky said.
