Jamie Hulley Arts Foundation Sponsors Program in Derby
Students at St. Mary St. Michael School participated in a series of nine photography workshops led by Steve DiReinzo.

Jamie Hulley Arts Foundation has published some of their educational program highlights in their Summer 2019 Newsletter.
In 2019, the foundation sponsored 33 educational programs in the greater New Haven, Bridgeport and Valley regions. Their goal is to provide opportunities to learn in new and creative ways and to "level the academic playing field" through arts-based programming so that all students can experience the joy of a sense of accomplishment.

In stark contrast to today's instant "snap and share" photography, students learned the value of composing a thoughtful and thought-provoking image that told a story or encouraged a sense of wonder. Students learned much more than how to use a camera - they learned how to share resources, how to both give and accept constructive criticism, and how to work together as a team to create something they could be proud of.
