Kitchen Fire Breaks Out At Shelton Home: FD

One person was hospitalized after a fire broke out in the kitchen of a Shelton home, according to fire officials.

SHELTON, CT — One person was hospitalized after a fire broke out in the kitchen of a Wigwam Drive home early Saturday morning, according to fire officials.

In a news release posted to Facebook, fire officials said they received an alert about the blaze around 12:30 a.m.

When crews arrived at the home, smoke could be seen from the door. A garden hose, which a retired firefighter and a crew member were using to keep the fire in check, was also seen inside the home, fire officials said.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire within minutes, then ventilate the smoke and check the area for hotspots, fire officials said.

The living portion of the home was deemed habitable for residents. One person was taken to a hospital for evaluation, fire officials said.

Nichols and Monroe fire departments provided station coverage during the fire. The cause of the blaze is under investigation, fire officials said.
