Lions International Peace Poster Contest Winners

The Shelton Community Lions Club held their annual Peace Poster Contest at the Perry Hill School in October. Lions Clubs International is sponsoring the program to emphasize the importance of world peace to young people everywhere. Five winners were chosen out of over 200 entrees. A pizza party was held for the winners and their parents and teachers on November 4th at the Shelton Community Center.

First Prize was awarded to Ashley Collins. Ashley’s poster was selected for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest them, “OUR WORLD, OUR FUTURE.” Other winners were: 2nd Prize – Sydney Byron, 3rd Prize – Santino DeFlippo, Honorable Mention – Hannah Mussatto and Mellissa Hunyadi.

Shelton Community Lions Club President Dave Haddad said he was impressed by the expression and creativity of the students at Perry Hill School. “It is obvious that these young people have strong ideas about what peace means to them. I’m so proud that we were able to provide them with the opportunity to share their visions.”
