Man Drove Wrong-Way On Route 8, Charged With DUI: State Police
State Police said they responded to the call at 3 a.m. Saturday in Seymour.
SEYMOUR, CT — A Manchester man is accused of driving the wrong-way on Route 8 while under the influence, state police said.
State police said they responded to a report of a wrong-way driver at 3:01 a.m. Saturday on Route 8 southbound near Exit 20 in Seymour. The vehicle was stopped near the Exit 22 entrance ramp by Seymour Police Department, state police said.
The driver was identified as Michael Brown, 55, of Manchester, state police said. While speaking to Brown, troopers smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage as he spoke, state police said.

State police said Brown failed the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and he was charged with operating under the influence, driving the wrong way on a divided highway and failure to carry a license.

He was released on a $1,500 bond to a relative, state police said. No accident was reported in this wrong-way incident, state police said.
