Man Shot In Ansonia Shopping Center Parking Lot: Police

A man was shot at a Main Street shopping center in Ansonia on Thursday evening, according to police.

ANSONIA, CT — Police are investigating after a man was shot in a shopping center parking lot Thursday evening in Ansonia. Police received multiple calls reporting shots fired in the parking lot of Rite Aid and Marshalls at 407 Main St. at about 6:30 p.m.

The first officers to arrive found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower body.

Medical personnel responded and the man was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The wound is not life threatening.

A preliminary police investigation found there was a dispute between two men in the parking lot during which a man displayed a handgun and a man was shot. The other man remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Police recovered the handgun.

Police have identified all those involved and said there is no danger to the public. The investigation is ongoing. There are no arrests as of yet.
