Moving Company Worker from Stratford Stole Gun from Shelton Home: Cops

SHELTON, CT - An employee from an unnamed moving company allegedly stole a firearm out of a Shelton home that he was working in, according to police.

Arrested on April 28 was Anthony David Trotta, 22, of Stratford, on charges of Theft of a Firearm and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.

Police did not disclose the name of the company Trotta works for, but said the business was in the midst of moving a customer when the gun turned up missing.

"The complainant reported to officers that he went to retrieve his firearm, to personally move it to his new residence, however when he went to retrieve it was gone," wrote police in a statement. "The complainant immediately notified police, who were able to quickly recover the firearm, which was hidden down the street in the woods."

After interviewing employees of the moving company, detectives determined that Trotta was allegedly involved in the theft.

Police added that additional arrests are expected in this investigation.
