Mystery Continues to Surround Social Media Threat that Closed Ansonia Schools
A community forum Tuesday night addressing the topic offered few answers. And many parents are not happy.

ANSONIA, CT - Schools reopened in Ansonia Wednesday morning, but answers as to the undisclosed threat that closed them Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday were not forthcoming during a community forum on the subject Tuesday night.
The New Haven Register reports that police, city and school officials did not offer details of the nature of the threat, which was sent over social media. It was directed at Ansonia High School, but as a precaution the district and police department emptied all four Ansonia schools Monday and shut them on Tuesday.
Parents still do not know the specifics of the threat, and at least one expressed concern that their child does not feel safe at the middle school. Others said they did not feel the district notified them in a timely manner, but district officials said they reached out to parents as soon as police gave them the go-ahead.

On Wednesday morning, the district's website could not be accessed, as it either crashed or was temporarily pulled offline. Additionally, the district's Facebook page did not offer any new details Wednesday morning of the situation.
Police positioned officers at each school on Wednesday, and the incident remains under investigation. Schools Superintendent Dr. Carol Merlone told parents that despite Tuesday's closure, high school graduation would still take place on June 9.
