Nightly Road Work Begins On Derby Road, Delays Expected: Police

Police said drivers should expect lane shifts, traffic delays and the presence of construction personnel and equipment during work hours.

DERBY, CT — Nightly road work has begun on Derby Avenue and is anticipated to continue into the fall, according to the Derby Police Department.

In a Facebook post Sunday, police said Burns Construction has begun nightly road work on Derby Avenue between Bank and Division streets, with work taking place from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

According to police, crews are installing a new gas line.

As work continues, drivers should expect lane shifts, traffic delays and the presence of construction personnel and equipment during overnight hours, according to police.

Police also ask that drivers consider using alternate routes when possible.

"When traveling through the area, reduce your speed and proceed cautiously through the work zone to ensure the safety of workers and fellow drivers," police wrote on Facebook. "Your patience and cooperation are appreciated as this infrastructure improvement project moves forward."
