Obituary: Ann E. Ferrara, 98, Of Shelton

Nancy was a stay-at-home mom and later returned to nursing as a clinical faculty member for St. Vincent's School of Nursing in Bridgeport.

Ann E. (Sweeney) Ferrara, age 98, of Shelton, formerly of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024. Her husband of 66 years, Raymond Ferrara predeceased her in 2020.

Ann (aka Nancy) was born in Pottstown PA, daughter of the late Emyle (Mutter) and John Sweeney. She earned her nursing degree at Catholic University, Washington DC, and began her career as a visiting nurse in New Haven. She and Ray married in 1954, raised 5 children and were long-time members of St. Augustine Cathedral.

Nancy was a stay-at-home mom and later returned to nursing as a clinical faculty member for St. Vincent's School of Nursing in Bridgeport. Upon retirement, she volunteered with Hospice and served as a eucharistic minister.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was beloved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her children, Lisa Ferrara and husband Ron Gaertner of WV, Emily Ferrara and wife Lara Hoke of MA, Paul Ferrara and wife Christine of RI, Maryann Ferrara and partner Andy Brennan of West Haven, and Rebecca Madden and husband John of Ansonia; cherished grandchildren, Nicole Reardon, Matthew Ferrara and wife Meghan, Stephanie Schweitzer and husband John, Lauren Vincent and husband David, Jeffrey Ferrara and wife Allison, and Deva Jasheway, 9 great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. Nancy was predeceased by her grandsons Adam Jasheway and Jeffrey Reardon and six brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be celebrated on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 4 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Friends may greet the family prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. in the funeral home. A private burial will be held at a later date.
