Obituary: Arthur H. Davis

Beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend

Arthur H. Davis, age 99, of Shelton entered into rest on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Bishop Wicke.

He was the devoted husband of 48 years of the late Marjorie (Ray) Davis. Arthur was born in Carnegie, PA on October 15, 1923, son of the late Horatio John and Izetta (Nixon) Davis and was a Shelton resident for most of his life.

He proudly served with the US Army Air Corp during WWII. While in the service, he piloted the B24 Liberator. He and his three brothers started the Davis Flight School in Daleville, PA. Arthur was a Quality Control Inspector for 33 years at Sikorsky Aircraft until his retirement. While retired, he enjoyed driving a school bus for the Trumbull Public Schools for over 25 years. Arthur liked riding his Harley Davidson, working on cars and riding his bicycle for miles through Wolfe Park. He also enjoyed gardening, walking, fishing, watching the N.Y. Yankees and flying Cessna Aircraft out of Monroe Airport. Arthur was a sweet, gentle, honest man who loved nature and animals, and he especially enjoyed bird watching. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family.

Arthur was the beloved father of Lynn Traverse and her late husband Russell, Nancy Guy, Eileen Garrett and James Davis and his wife Mary and brother of H. John Davis, Jr.. He was the loving grandfather of Gary Clark and Holly, Susan Wood and Jay, Scott Guy, Catie Ferriera and Christine Garrett, great grandfather of twins Jason and Leah Wood, Melody Clark, and Greyson Garrett and Angel and great great grandfather of Link Garrett. He was also survived by his nephews John H. Davis and Janet, Kim Davis and Janet, nieces Margaret Johnson and Grant, Janet Mertz and Bob and Marcie Maley and Elmer, and his very best friend Marilyn Hurvul. He had two granddogs Jeter and Dolly. He was predeceased by two brothers, Homer Davis and William Davis.

His graveside services will be held in the spring.

The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton has been entrusted with his arrangements.
