
Cecelia Mae Evanchik, age 98, of Stamford, entered peacefully into eternal rest on August 5, 2021 at Shelton Lakes, with Poochie waving her on.
She was the devoted wife of the late Stanley "Chew" Evanchik. Cecelia was born in Stamford on September 7, 1922, daughter of the late Anthony and Daisy Mae (Roberts) Cakavell. Cecelia was a graduate of Stamford High School, class of 1939. She loved to travel, especially with the Pitney Bowes Golden Oldies. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family, and will always be remembered for hosting all the family holidays at her home.
Cecelia was the beloved mother of Barbara Ratzel (husband Donald), Arthur Evanchik, the late Helen "Poochie" Evanchik, and Christine Noonan (husband Thomas). She is survived by her brother, Frank Cakavell. She was also the loving grandmother of Sherry Love, Christopher Ratzel, Kelly Noonan and Thomas “Tommy” Noonan II, along with seven great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Dieter Cakavell and her beloved best friend from high school, Anna Barbera. Cecelia was predeceased by two brothers, George and Arthur Cakavell and two sisters, Dorothy Zeranski and Helen Burke.
Her funeral services will be private.
