Obituary: Diane M. Wanzie

Beloved Mother, Nana, Sister and Aunt

Diane M. Wanzie, age 71, of Ansonia, entered into rest on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Shelton Lakes Apple Rehab in Shelton. She was the devoted wife of 50 years to Frank C. Wanzie, who predeceased her in March. Diane was born in Bridgeport on December 20, 1950, daughter of the late Frederick and Katie (Shurko) Clark. She lived in Ansonia since 1975, but grew up in Pine Rock Park in Shelton where she met her husband.

Diane started her career as a hairdresser, but quickly became a stay at home mom. While caring for her kids, you would often find a friend or family member in the kitchen getting their hair done. Later when her children were older, she worked retail and secretarial jobs before spending her final working years as a paraprofessional for the Seymour Board of Education. Diane was an avid collector of many things. She loved gardening, listening to music, cooking, baking, arts and crafts and writing poems. Given her strong Ukrainian heritage, she loved to travel to the Ukraine with her mother to visit family and explore the country. She learned to paint Ukrainian eggs and collected a variety of memorabilia on her travels.

She is the beloved mother of Jodi Sinisgalli and her husband Michael, Kristen Wanzie, and Frank Wanzie and his wife Yajaira Gonzalez Wanzie. She is the proud Nana of Raina, Makenna, and Teagan Sinisgalli, Aaliyah Wanzie, and Aria Wanzie. Diane also leaves five sisters, Cheryl Hoye, Susan Kowalczyk, Geraldine Pokladowski, Karen Ceci, and Judith Dew, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Frederick Clark.
