Obituary: Geraldine A. 'Geri' Makower, 71, of Shelton

Geri, a former nurse's aid at Golden Hill Health Care, also volunteered at Milford Hospital, Housatonic Girl Scout Council and Camp Katoya.

SHELTON, CT - (From Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home) Geraldine A. ”Geri” Makower, age 71 of Shelton and formerly of Milford, beloved wife of the late Mark Makower, entered peaceful rest on January 29, 2021 at Griffin Health in Derby.

She was born on May 11, 1949 in Pennsylvania. Geri previously worked as a nurse’s aid at Golden Hill Health Care Center but most of all, raising her family.

Geri Volunteered at Milford Hospital for many years providing hand and foot massages to the patients through the Tender Touch Program.

She enjoyed volunteering at Harmony’s school in the library. She was also very involved with the Housatonic Girl Scout Council and Camp Katoya in Milford.

Geri is survived by two devoted daughters, Sue Verkamp and her husband Tim and their son, Henry of FL and Linda Stubbs and her husband Christopher of Shelton and their daughter, Harmony Stubbs who lovingly called her “Nonni” and her brother, Joseph Szulczewski.

The family would like to thank the nurse’s and staff at Griffin Hospital for the compassion and wonderful care given to their mom.
