John E. Ellis, age 80, of Seymour entered into rest on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Griffin Hospital with his loving family by his side after a brief illness.
He was the devoted husband of 58 years to Janet (Moulthrop) Ellis. John was born in Milford on November 16, 1941. He started his early career at Bridgeport Brass up until they closed. He then went on to work various jobs so that he could take the best possible care of his family before going on to work as a Timekeeper at Sikorsky Aircraft for 30 years until his retirement.
John was an avid N.Y. Yankee fan and loved watching and attending their games. He was an antique car enthusiast and enjoyed spending time at the Seymour and Oxford Senior Centers. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who he adored.

John is survived by his loving daughter Coreen Austin and her husband Derek, cherished grandchildren Ashley and Brian, and his dedicated son John H. Ellis (Maria Civitelli) and her son Matthew.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Monday, friends are invited to his funeral service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Masks are required in the funeral home for both the visitation and funeral service. In honor of John’s love of the game of baseball, the family encourages everyone to wear their favorite team’s sportswear to the visitation and funeral service. His burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery.
