Obituary: Richard Alan Bednar, Sr.

Richard Alan Bednar, Sr., age 69, of Shelton entered into rest on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was the devoted husband of 49 years to Linda S. (Potucek) Bednar. Richard was born in Bridgeport, on April 7, 1952, son of the late Joseph C. Bednar, Jr. and Edna (Taylor) Bednar and was a longtime resident of Trumbull before moving to Shelton in 1984. He owned JC Bednar Motors for many years until his retirement. Richard was a car enthusiast. Most of all, he cherished spending time with his family. He was an extremely hardworking, fun loving, and compassionate man who would give you the navy blue shirt off his back and drop everything for you. He had an excellent sense of humor and took great pride in making his family and friends laugh.

Richard was the beloved father of Richard Alan Bednar, Jr. and his wife Melissa and Kimberly Thompson and her husband Brent and brother of Judy Mulherin. He was the loving grandfather of Sam and Savanna Bednar and Brady and Tyler Thompson and was also survived by several nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his brother Gary Bednar.
