Virgina “Ginny” Veilleux entered into rest on Friday, October 21st 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Charles Veilleux for 50 years, where they shared many happy moments. Virginia was born in Danbury on January 13th, 1950 to the late James and Grace Newton.
Virginia was a nurse since her early 20's, dedicating her life to the health industry until her retirement. She worked in hospitals and moved onto a number of nursing homes over the years, including Lord Chamberlain, Southport Manor, 3030 Park, the Ludelow Center, Longridge of Stamford, and retired while she was working at Orange Health Care Center. She loved working with the elderly and left a long-lasting impact on those she helped.
Virginia often joined the recreation department to help with their activities such as bingo and art classes. She was an LPN, but was promoted to MDS coordinator in her late 40's. She always had her nursing whites and would wash her white reeboks. She always spoke up about the care of her patients most especially for those who could no longer speak such as those with Alzheimer’s or Dementia.
Virginia was a girl scout leader for many years. She loved camping, hiking, and being outside. She loved nature and loved spending time outdoors with her children. She ran several events with her girl scout troops including camping, hiking, and rock climbing. Virginia especially loved cookie season; her garage full to the brim with cookies to sell. She also spent a lot of time doing crafts and making all kinds of art. She loved music, especially groups like the Mammas and the Pappas, John Denver, and most of all the Beatles. In Virginia’s house, there was always music playing. She and Charles had an extensive collection of several thousand records, where she would build an entire Christmas village on top, just for her favorite holiday. Virginia also collected snowmen. She always sang the Muppets Christmas album with John Denver and watched snowmen cartoons around the holidays.
Virginia was a beloved grandmother, who adored spending time with her grandchild Olivia. With the help of Katherine, her middle daughter, you could always catch Virginia video-chatting with her grandbaby Olivia and her sister Myra. She loved cucumbers, dipping them in blue cheese dressing, and burgers with no onions. She would watch old music videos on YouTube and sing along to them. She loved old crime shows, especially those on Netflix.
Above all, Virginia was a kind, loving mom, always supportive of her children. She read to them every night and never missed a single extracurricular event. Virginia was always smiling, and made everyone feel loved, especially on birthdays. Virginia was especially thrilled to send her children’s Christmas lists to Santa. Virginia loved making memories and made sure to keep photo albums of every moment she would capture. She always took care of everyone. She is deeply loved and missed by her family.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Charles Veilleux and her daughters Jennifer Veilleux, Katherine Veilleux, and Elizabeth Veilleux. She is also survived by her brothers Edward Newton and Joseph Newton, as well as her sisters Myra Cane and Deborah Young. Virginia is also survived by her beloved grandchild, Olivia Autumn Hernandez.
