Overnight Closure Announced For Route 8 Exit In Derby: Police

Derby police said the exit will be closed overnight for wrong way driver preventative maintenance, during which a detour will be in place.

DERBY, CT — An exit on Route 8 in Derby will be temporarily closed this week, during which a detour will be in place, according to the Derby Police Department.

In a Facebook post Sunday, police said Exit 12B will be closed overnight starting Tuesday at 7 p.m. and lasting through Wednesday at 5 a.m. for wrong way driver preventative maintenance.

According to police, the following detour route will be in place:

  • Continue on Route 8 Southbound to Exit 12A.
  • Turn left onto Howe Street.
  • Right onto Kneen Street.
  • Right onto Route 8 Northbound.
  • Take Exit 12A off-ramp.

According to police, drivers should expect possible schedule adjustments due to weather or unforeseen conditions.

Drivers are also asked to use caution, reduce speed and follow posted signage when traveling in the area, police said.
