Passenger In Critical Condition After Jeep Strikes 3 Vehicles, Hits Pole, Catches Fire: Ansonia Police

Police said four people were injured after a Jeep struck three vehicles, then hit a pole and caught on fire in Ansonia.

ANSONIA, CT — A passenger was critically injured after a Jeep struck three vehicles, then hit a pole and caught on fire late Sunday afternoon in Ansonia, according to the Ansonia Police Department.

In a news release posted to Facebook, police said a driver informed an officer around 4:30 p.m. their car was struck by a gray Jeep at the intersection of Bridge Street and West Main Street, which left the area and was last seen on Pershing Drive.

According to police, the officer then discovered the Jeep struck two more vehicles on Pershing Drive at Division Street before hitting a pole and catching on fire.

The four occupants of the Jeep were all injured, police said.

One passenger suffered serious head and neck injuries and is in critical condition as of Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Chief of Police Wayne Williams thanked the Derby Police Department, Ansonia Rescue Medical Services, Ansonia Fire Department and the Fairfield Police Department Crash Reconstruction Team for their assistance at the scene and during the investigation, which is ongoing.
