PEACHES ARE READY!: BEARDSLEY’S CIDER MILL & ORCHARD, LLC
Shelton, CT. Beardsley’s Cider Mill & Orchard, LLC now offers Peaches & Nectarines. Dan and Dave Beardsley are now offering peaches this August. For this year, due to the 12 degrees below zero weather on February 14th, almost all peach buds were killed so the peaches are sourced from southern New Jersey. The peaches currently available are yellow cling stone and are juicy and sweet. “We are hoping the community will support us through this peach season” says Dan Beardsley. “It’s frustrating to nurture over 250 peach, nectarine and plum trees and not get any fruit at all, but we expect to have a great crop next year”. The farm store is now open August through December 24th daily from 10AM till 5:30 PM.

New this year at the farm store are apple cinnamon scones as well as cider donuts, pies, fruit breads, local raw honey, jams, jellies, BBQ sauces, salad dressings, salsa and unique gift items.
Apples and cider will be available both in the farm store and for Pick-Your-Own by September 10th. Available for picking in order of ripening will be Honeycrisp, Gala, McIntosh, Macoun, Empire, Jonagold (Dan’s favorite apple - It’s sweet, crisp, juicy and great for both eating and cooking), Mutsu (also called Crispin), a large green-yellow sweet-tart apple great for cooking and excellent for eating. Later in October is Braeburn & Winesap - Dave’s favorite apple to eat and make into cider. The apple crop looks very good this year with fruit a bit smaller than normal due to lack of rain during the summer growing season, but packed with flavor says Beardsley.
