Person Shot On Route 8 In Derby, Troopers Investigating: State Police

A portion of Route 8 was closed in Derby due to the investigation, according to media reports.

DERBY, CT — A shooting investigation is underway Thursday morning in Derby, according to Connecticut State Police.

In an email to Patch, state police said Troop I was notified around 3:30 a.m. of a person with a gunshot wound who reported they had been shot on Route 8.

The person's injuries were non-life threatening, according to state police.

WTNH News 8 reports a portion of Route 8 southbound was closed between exits 13 and 12B in Derby due to the police investigation.

WFSB Eyewitness News 3 reports the portion of the highway was initially closed around 4:30 a.m., then closed again around 6 a.m. before reopening about 45 minutes later.

According to WFSB, troopers received a report of a person who showed up at Griffin Hospital in Derby with a gunshot wound.
