Powerful Thunderstorm Hits Shelton

The severe thunderstorm that tore through Shelton brought in heavy rain.

No major power outages were reported in Shelton. Nearby Ridgefield and Monroe saw the worst of the storm with close to 5,000 power outages in each town.

Both towns continue to experience outages.

Firefighters responded to numerous calls throughout the city due to the storm including a house on Mulberry Lane that was struck by lightning. Firefighters responded around 4:30 p.m. and were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
