Robert A. Kondor - Obituary

Proud U.S. Airforce Veteran of the Vietnam War, AVCO-Lycoming Retiree, Beloved Husband, Father Grandfather, Great-grandfather

Robert A. Kondor, age 80, beloved husband of Beverly Ann (Seymour) Kondor of Seymour, entered into eternal rest on January 26, 2025, at Griffin Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on November 19, 1944, he was the son of the late Stephen C. and Elizabeth Sanzare Kondor. Mr. Kondor was raised in Stratford and was a 1962 graduate of Stratford High School. Following his graduation, Mr. Kondor began his long career at Avco-Lycoming, formerly of Stratford. He was a proud U.S. Airforce Veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a Staff Sergeant, Aviation Mechanic, for four active years at Otis Air Force Base, Falmouth, MA. Following his military service, Mr. Kondor returned to his position as a Cutter-Grinder at AVCO, residing 8 years in Derby, 25 years in Ansonia and Seymour for the last 18 years. He retired from his 34 year long career at Textron-Lycoming in 1996 and occupied his time with small jobs including Funeral Assistant and Driver, shuttle bus driver for Sacred Heart University and was a primary driver for the Woodbridge and Bethany Senior Center shuttle bus. He was a longtime communicant of Holy Rosary Church, Ansonia and spent several winters at a residence in Inverness, FL. Mr. Kondor found great amusement in grocery shopping, he strategically planned his shopping adventures with coupons and seeking the best bargains. Once home with his spoils, he’d proudly share detailed stories of his hunt! He will be long remembered for his sense of humor, his easy going and affable personality, and his good-hearted nature. Above all, Mr. Kondor was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; always taking the opportunity to spoil his grand and great-grandchildren with ice cream, lollypops and treats. In addition to his beloved wife of 58 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Christine Proctor and her husband, Randy of Seymour; Robert Kondor and his wife, Tracie of Shelton and Julie-Ann Kondor of CA; cherished grandchildren, Jessica Valentine and her husband, Jeffery of Orange, Rachael Pommills of Seymour, Shawn Kondor and his fiancé, Krystina Rodriguez of Shelton and Jodie Purciello and her husband, Daniel of Shelton; cherished great-grandchildren, Gia, Joseph, Josalynn, Sophia, Colton, Cooper, Savannah, Alexandra and Greyson; sister-in-law, Janice Kondor; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Kondor was pre-deceased by a brother, Donald Kondor.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 9:00 AM from the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Holy Rosary Church, 10 Father Salemi Dr., Ansonia. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour.
