Rollover Crash Damages Pole, Causes Transformer Leak In Shelton: FD

According to Shelton fire officials, the damaged pole caused a transformer to leak approximately 200 gallons of oil.

SHELTON, CT — A rollover crash caused about 200 gallons of oil to leak from a transformer in the area of Huntington Street late Saturday afternoon, according to fire officials.

In a news release, fire officials said crews received a report of a rollover crash involving power lines around 4 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found a single-car crash with a telephone pole and wires down across the road.

The driver and passengers were out of the vehicle when crews arrived. One person was taken to a hospital for evaluation, fire officials said.

According to fire officials, the damaged pole caused a transformer to leak approximately 200 gallons of oil from the unit, as well as a local power outage.

The road was closed as repairs were made to the pole and the oil was cleaned up, fire officials said.
