Sen. Murphy Denounces Secrecy Surrounding Health Care Bill

"You are breaking the senate and it won't get put back together that easily," Murphy said.

Connecticut U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy along with Sen. Cory Booker and others were on the hunt Tuesday for a Republican healthcare bill that has been shrouded in mystery.

The bill is being crafted by a small group of Republican legislators and a vote is possible before the July 4 recess, according to NBC News.

Murphy voiced his displeasure with a speech on the Senate floor.

“If you are talking about millions of people benefiting or losing that shouldn't happen behind closed doors,” he said, adding that the bill could change one-fifth to one-sixth of the American economy.

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas said the bill would be scored by the Congressional Budget Office and will then be open for debate before a vote, according to NBC.

“You are breaking the senate and it won’t get put back together that easily,” Murphy said.
