Shelton Awarded Housing Grant

SHELTON, CT — Shelton will receive $800,000 in federal funds to modernize the Sinsabaugh Heights Public Housing complex. The senior housing building will get an upgraded fire alarm system, storm and screen door replacements and a new roofing system.

“These projects will help so many local communities increase quality of life and make our state an even more attractive place to live, work and do business,” Governor Dannel Malloy said. “These are investments in our neighborhoods, in the people who live here, and in our economic future.”

A total of $10.5 million in grants was doled out to 16 municipalities across the state. Funding comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and are administered by the state Department of Housing.

“These awards will help to improve the lives of Connecticut residents,” DOH Commissioner Evonne Klein said. “Whether it’s helping a family to complete essential renovations on their homes such as repairing a leaking roof, making a senior living facility ADA compliant, or improving the habitability of a domestic violence shelter – CDBG Small Cities funding is an important program.
