Shelton-Based Medical Association Seeks Nominations for 2026 Future of Healthcare Awards

The Greater Bridgeport Medical Association (GBMA) is inviting the public to nominate outstanding young healthcare professionals for its inaugural 2026 Future of Healthcare Awards, a new initiative designed to recognize emerging healthcare leaders making a difference throughout the Greater Bridgeport region.

The awards will honor healthcare professionals under the age of 40 who live or work in Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Shelton, Stratford, or Trumbull and who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to patient care, public health, leadership, innovation, community service, or healthcare advocacy.

"Every day, young healthcare professionals across our region dedicate themselves to caring for others during some of life's most challenging moments," said John Brannelly, Executive Director of the Greater Bridgeport Medical Association. "Whether they are treating patients, responding to emergencies, supporting families, advancing public health, or improving healthcare delivery, these individuals represent the future of healthcare in our community."

Eligible nominees may include physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, EMTs, paramedics, pharmacists, dentists, psychologists, therapists, social workers, public health professionals, and other allied healthcare professionals.

According to GBMA, the awards were created to shine a spotlight on the next generation of healthcare leaders whose contributions often go unrecognized despite the significant impact they make every day.

Healthcare professionals face increasing demands and challenges, requiring not only clinical expertise but also compassion, resilience, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. The Future of Healthcare Awards seek to celebrate those who exemplify these qualities early in their careers.

The initiative builds upon GBMA's longstanding tradition of recognizing excellence in healthcare. Over the years, the organization has honored physician leaders, women in medicine, nurses, retired physicians, hospital executives, and community healthcare advocates throughout the region.

Nominations must be submitted by Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Community members, healthcare organizations, colleagues, friends, and patients are encouraged to nominate deserving healthcare professionals who are helping shape the future of medicine and healthcare in the Greater Bridgeport area.

Award recipients will be recognized during a special ceremony on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at the Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course in Fairfield.
