Shelton BOE Budget Cuts Teacher Positions

The budget now heads to the mayor and Board of Aldermen.

SHELTON, CT — The Shelton Board of Education approved Superintendent Chris Clouet's proposed budget that comes with a 2.99 percent spending increase. The budget eliminates 14 teacher positionsand an assistant principal position.

The budget is likely to be reduced further as Mayor Mark Lauretti has already indicated he didn't want to increase the Board of Education budget at all, according to the Shelton Herald.

Clouet said there are plans to offer a retirement package that could provide savings to retain more teacher positions if enough people take it.
