Shelton Burglary Suspect Nabbed by Off-Duty Cop: Police
The suspect allegedly broke into Scooters convenience store on Bridgeport Avenue.

SHELTON, CT — A burglary suspect was nabbed early Wednesday morning when an off-duty Shelton Police Detective reportedly saw the suspicious vehicle moments before the break-in and was able to relay that information to help with the capture.
Det. Christopher Nugent spotted the suspect's vehicle moments for the break-in at Scooters convenience store on Bridgeport Avenue, according to police. Officers responded to an alarm at the store, but the suspects were gone.
However, their vehicle was shown on surveillance video, and Nugent matched it with a license of the car he saw moments before. Arrested on charges of burglary, larceny and criminal mischief was Bridgeport resident Kenny Xavier Tapia, 21.
