Shelton Community Star: Courtney Dishian, Teacher

In this new series, Patch features Shelton community members who make a difference in the lives of residents.

In this new series, Patch features outstanding members of the community that go above and beyond to give them the recognition they deserve.

Today we feature Courtney Dishian, a local teacher who has made a difference, sent in by Diana Davis.

Who is your favorite teacher?

Courtney Dishian.

Where does she teach?

She teaches 5th grade at Perry Hill School in Shelton, CT. At one time she taught the same students for both 5th and 6th grade consecutively.

Why is she your favorite?

The reason why she’s the favorite teacher that both of my boys have had is because she makes learning fun. She takes her job very seriously and I believe makes a commitment every day to make a difference in each and every child in her classroom.

The role she has is more than just a job because she doesn’t stop being a teacher when the final bell rings. You’ll find her at baseball games cheering her students on. She will attend any extra curricular event that she can, even when her students have moved onto another grade. She attended the Middle School Orientation for her outgoing 6th graders so she was as prepared as the parents were. She’s funny, current, caring and was truly born to do this job.
