Shelton Cop Helps Save Family From Fire

The officer was driving into work when he noticed smoke coming from a residence Sunday.

SHELTON, CT — A Shelton Police officer on his way to work helped save a family in a Sunday morning fire.

Officer Michael Kichar saw smoke coming from a Meadow Street residence and called it in to dispatch around 6:55 a.m. He then went inside the home and woke up the residents and helped them get their dog outside, according to police.

The fire quickly spread. Shelton, Monroe and Trumbull firefighters got the blaze under control shortly before 8:30 a.m. There were no reported injuries.
