Shelton Cops Arrest 7 On Outstanding Warrant Charges

The arrests were part of a statewide arrest warrant sweep called "Operation Penalty Box."

SHELTON, CT — Seven people were arrested by Shelton police on outstanding warrant charges Wednesday in what the department said was part of a statewide arrest warrant sweep called "Operation Penalty Box."

The warrants were served in the morning on residents in Shelton, Derby, Ansonia and Seymour on charges ranging from sexual assault to larceny, among others, according to Shelton Police Det. Richard Bango.

  • Jonathan Bell, 40, of Derby, was charged Burglary 3rd Degree and Larceny 4th Degree.
  • Renato Lacerda, 41, of Ansonia, was charged with Sexual Assault 4th Degree.
  • Howat Miller, 50, of Derby, was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree.
  • Henry Crespo, 53, of Derby, was charged with Larceny 3rd Degree.
  • James Aspinwall, 46, of Seymour, was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree.
  • Troy Brown, 22, of Shelton, was charged with Failure to Appear 2nd Degree.
  • Veronica Adams, 37, of Shelton, was charged with Larceny 6th Degree.

Details on the individual cases were not disclosed, and Shelton police expect to make additional warrant arrests in the near future due to the department notifying several suspects that they had outstanding warrants.

The department reminds the public that the charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
