Shelton & Derby Among CT Communities In Coronavirus 'Red Zone'

A community is considered to be in the red zone if it has 15 or more COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people.

SHELTON & DERBY, CT — As the coronavirus delta variant continues to spread throughout Connecticut, several communities, including Shelton and Derby, are now considered among the "red" or highest infection level, according to state health officials.

Shelton reported an infection rate of 16.8 per 100,000 people for the most recent survey period, while Derby's rate was 15.6 (see the interactive alert level map below).

As for the two communities' vaccination rates, the state Department of Public Health reports that 64.02 percent of Shelton's population is fully vaccinated, while Derby's rate was 65.72 percent (see the interactive vaccination map below).
