Shelton/Derby Coronavirus Update: 76 Cases Between Towns

Shelton has had 60 cases, including four deaths.

SHELTON, CT — The Naugatuck Valley now has 149 laboratory confirmed coronavirus cases as of Wednesday.

Here are the case numbers by town:

  • Ansonia: 24 confirmed, 21 negative
  • Beacon Falls: 9 confirmed, 8 negative
  • Derby: 16 confirmed: 18 negative
  • Naugatuck: 23 confirmed, 17 negative
  • Seymour 17 confirmed, 33 negative
  • Shelton: 60 confirmed including four deaths, 28 negative.

  • 20-29: 11 cases
  • 30-39: 29 cases
  • 40-49: 23 cases
  • 50-59: 17 cases
  • 60-69: 27 cases
  • 70-79: 17 cases
  • 80+: 25 cases

Shelton School Interim Superintendent Beth Smith said that the hope is a decision about the remainder of the school year will be made by Gov. Ned Lamont's administration by April 10.

"I share your concern about the unknown; it is mine too," she said. "As I see the number of identified cases of COVID-19 increasing on a daily basis in Shelton I understand that cautious decision making with safety first is paramount. This is a true public health crisis and I encourage you to continue to practice social distancing."
