Shelton Extends Police Chief's Contract: Report
Police Chief Shawn Sequeira's recent contract extension will keep him in place until 2027.
SHELTON, CT — Shawn Sequeira, the city's police chief, received a contract extension late last month, keeping him in place until 2027, the Shelton Herald reports. The city's Board of Aldermen unanimously approved the deal, with Mayor Mark Lauretti’s endorsement, during an Aug. 24 meeting.
According to the Shelton Herald, Sequeira was first hired as the city's police chief nearly eight years ago, becoming the first Black police chief in the city's history. His contract extension last month was also endorsed by the police union leadership.
