Shelton Facing Hefty Increase in Costs for Sending Some Students Out-of-District: Report

Costs are rising to attend the Bridgeport Magnet School.

SHELTON, CT — The city's school district is facing an increase of more than $350,000 to send some of its students to the Bridgeport Magnet School, reports the Shelton Herald.

Costs are slated to rise by about $3,000 per student, or from $15,000 to $18,000 annually. Shelton sends about 120 students to the school.

State and local legislators are working on trying to reduce the financial burden, according to the publication.
