Shelton Fire Departments Plan 'Wet Down' to Welcome New Trucks

Two Shelton fire companies welcome new aerial trucks to their fleet with a wet down on Saturday, August 9.

Join Shelton’s fire departments on Saturday August 9 at White Hills Station #5 as they celebrate the arrival of their brand new KME 79-foot aerial trucks.

The newest addition of the Pine Rock Park fleet is a KME 79’ quint. The vehicle holds 500 gallons of water and is able to pump up to 2,000 gallons of water per minute, Ladder 47 will allow volunteer firefighters the ability to handle the most intense of fires.

According to Firehouse.com, the KME 79-foot AerialCat aerial ladder has a 425-horsepower engine, an unrestricted 500-pound tip load and is constructed of 100,000-psi steel. It is engineered with a 2.5:1 structural safety factor. The 79-foot rated vertical and horizontal reach provides 17% more scrub zone capability, allowing firefighters better reach when they are on the scene of a fire.
