Shelton Firefighter Named 2026 Firefighter Of The Year

SHELTON, CT — A Shelton firefighter was recently named the American Legion Department of Connecticut Firefighter of the Year for 2026, fire officials announced Sunday.

According to the Shelton Volunteer Fire Co. #4 Pine Rock Park, Dale Lesko received the award, which the company noted was "well-deserved."

The company also said it was incredibly proud to have Lesko as a member of its organization.

"His dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving our community are evident in everything he does," the company wrote on Facebook. "Dale continually goes above and beyond to make a positive impact, and this recognition is a true reflection of his hard work and selfless service."
