Shelton Firefighters Go Bald for St. Baldrick's

A group of Shelton firefighters shaved their heads to help raise money for childhood cancer research Saturday.

The Huntington Fire House hosted their third annual St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser Saturday to raise money for childhood cancer research. The fire house has raised over $22,000 dollars since beginning their fundraising event two years ago, and Saturday’s fundraiser adds thousands more to that number.

Volunteer barbers ad hairdressers shaved the heads of the firefighters to show solidarity for kids who are fighting cancer. The event took place at Hirschbecks Sports Bar & Grille in Shelton.

St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that helps fund childhood cancer research to help find cures for kids with cancer. In April of 2014 St. Baldrick’s broke a Guinness World Record for one barber shaving the most heads in one hour, 73. So far in 2014, various organizations have raised nearly $36 million dollars for the foundation.
