Shelton High Principal, Assistant Principal Reassigned

The high school principal and assistant principal will assume new permanent roles in the school system.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Former Shelton High School Principal Beth Smith and Assistant Principal John Skerritt will assume new permanent roles in the school system.

Kathy Riddle will serve as SHS interim principal until a permanent replacement is hired, according to the Shelton Herald. Smith will serve as special education supervisor and Skerritt will become assistant principal at Shelton Intermediate School.

The two administrators were placed on temporary administrative leave earlier this year while Shelton Police conducted an investigation into the response to a reported sex assault involving two students. Police attempted to obtain a warrant for the arrest of both, but the State Attorney's office declined to prosecute.
