New Developments In Shelton High Investigation
A criminal investigation that involves multiple staff members has been launched.
SHELTON, CT — Shelton High School Principal Beth Smith was placed on administrative leave March 28 until further notice.
Superintendent Chris Clouet said that she wasn't escorted from the building by police and hasn't been arrested, contrary to some rumors.
Police and other agencies are investigating a situation Clouet told the Shelton Herald, but didn't go into deeper detail other than it occurred in the past week.

Mayor Mark Lauretti told the Connecticut Post that the state's attorney's office and Shelton Police are investigating multiple staff members. Shelton Police said that they are investigating whether proper procedures were following regarding potentially criminal incidents.
Assistant Principal John Skerritt will serve as acting principal.

To Parents of SHS students and the Shelton Community:
SHS Principal, Dr. Beth Smith, will be out on administrative leave until further notice.
This is a personnel matter.
Please beware of rumors! She was NOT escorted from the building by police.
There has been NO arrest!
Our primary concern is the well being of our students. In addition, Dr. Smith deserves respect and privacy as this process unfolds.
