Shelton Man, 48, Struck by Vehicle and Killed: Police

The victim was struck by a vehicle near Shelton Avenue on Friday evening, Dec. 9.

SHELTON, CT — A 48-year-old Shelton man was struck by a vehicle near Shelton Avenue on Friday evening, Dec. 9, and later died from his injuries, according to police.

Ronald Richard was struck near the entrance to hiking trails at about 5:15 p.m. and was laying in the roadway when emergency personnel arrived.

"Initial investigation revealed that 45-year-old Christopher Goldspink of Shelton was traveling south on Meadow Street and struck Richard as he was crossing the street," Shelton Police Det. Richard Bango wrote in a statement. "Richard was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries."

The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the accident, and no enforcement action has been taken at this time, according to police.

"Any witnesses or persons with additional information are asked to contact the Shelton Police Department Traffic Division at (203) 924-1544."
