Shelton Man Charged In Derby Hit-And-Run: Police
Police said a Shelton man has been charged in connection to a Derby hit-and-run incident in which a pedestrian was seriously injured.

DERBY, CT — A Shelton man has been charged in connection to a hit-and-run incident Thursday in which a pedestrian was seriously injured, according to Derby police.
In a news release posted to Facebook, police said officers were called to the area of North Avenue near Roosevelt Drive around 7:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
The pedestrian was taken toYale New Haven Hospital with serious injuries. The driver fled the area before officers arrived, according to police.

Witnesses were able to provide officers with the vehicle's license plate number and detailed descriptions of the driver, police said.
On Friday, detectives located the driver at his home in Shelton. The vehicle was also found hidden behind a nearby business, according to police.

Jeffrey Putnick, 41, of Shelton, was arrested and charged with evading responsibility with serious physical injury, failure to exercise due care to avoid pedestrian and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. He was held on a $100,000 bond, according to police.
