Shelton Mayor Responds to Atheist Sign with Pro-Christmas Message
Mayor Mark Lauretti says that he's a "Merry Christmas guy."

SHELTON, CT — Last week, Shelton resident Jerry Bloom and the Freedom from Religion Foundation erected a "Winter Solstice" atheist sign at the city's Huntington Green, and this week Mayor Mark Lauretti decided to loudly counter that message.
The mayor, a self-proclaimed "Merry Christmas guy," put up his own sign right next to the atheist message reading "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the City of Shelton," reports the Connecticut Post.
Bloom and the FFRF won a legal challenge for the right to place their sign on the green, which has generated reams of comments and opinions on Patch and with other media outlets.

Call it a war of the signs, but Lauretti, a Republican, told the Post that he, too, has a right to erect a sign, which he did.
And to all a good night.
