Shelton Parents Upset Over Sudden Preschool Charges

A program that was traditionally free suddenly started charging.

SHELTON, CT — Some parents are upset after the school district decided to charge for a preschool program that had traditionally been free of charge.

The program had 3 and 4-year-olds serve as peer role models with special needs students as part of an inclusion program, according to the Connecticut Post.

The school board made the decision over the summer to charge $2,500 per year and the school district's website still advertises the program as free. That left some parents scrambling to come up with $2,500 or find other childcare options. To sign up for Shelton and Derby breaking news alerts and more, click here.
