Shelton Police Arrest School Bus Driver Charged with Falling Asleep at the Wheel
Police said the suspect appeared to fall asleep several times while children were on the bus.

SHELTON, CT - Police arrested a school bus driver Tuesday charged with falling asleep at the wheel while operating a bus.
Police charged Paul Pixley, 55, of Derby with 30 counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor, Breach of Peace, Reckless Endangerment and Reckless Driving, according to a release. The suspect is currently being held on $75,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned at Derby Superior court on Wednesday.
The arrest stems from an incident that occurred on December 16, after police received a call that a bus driver was falling asleep while driving and swerving all over the road. Police were able to pull over the vehicle on Nichols Avenue by Earl Street.

Police said there were no children on the bus when the traffic stop was made. Officers spoke with Pixley and an assistant manager of Landmark Transportation arrived on the scene to drove the bus away.
Detectives were later able to determine that at some point there were 30 children on the bus being driven by Pixley that day. The suspect appeared to fall asleep several times while the children were on the bus, resulting in children getting off at earlier bus stops.
