Shelton Police Assist in Search for Lethal Heroin

Derby police recently dealt with a pair of deadly heroin overdoses.

Shelton and Derby police have teamed up to investigate a rash of heroin overdoses, two of which resulted in deaths.

The two heroin-related deaths occurred this week in Derby, but in recent days Shelton police also dealt with heroin overdoses that required hospitalization for the individuals.

In recent weeks, more than a dozen heroin overdoses have been reported in Connecticut, many of which have been coming from the New London area. As a result, health and law enforcement officials issued a statewide warning for hospitals, clinics and police departments to be on the lookout for a particularly potent strain of heroin on the streets.
