Shelton Police Officer Charged in Off-Duty Incident Placed on Leave

Authorities are yet to determine whether the officer will face additional discipline charges.

Daniel Judkins, 29, was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct on Monday for allegedly getting into a fighting match with his brother-in-law that turned physical, the paper reports. His brother-in-law, Lorenzo Durante, 35, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief in the case.

At his arraignment on Tuesday, Judkins was ordered to surrender any guns he owns while the case is pending.

Judkins called police to his home at around 1 a.m. on Saturday, the paper reports. He had gone to the basement to be alone during his birthday party when his brother-in-law asked him to come back upstairs and the situation escalated.

Both Judkins and Durante will return to court May 21.
