Shelton Republicans Decide on State Rep Candidate: UPDATE
For the 113th District.

Updated at 8:32 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016: Incumbent Jason Perillo Tuesday easily defeated challenger Ruth Parkins for the Republican nomination to run for the 113th state House of Representatives District.
According to unofficial results, Perillo received 1,054 votes, compared to Parkins' 108. Perillo's share of the vote was a commanding 90.71 percent; Parkins only obtained 9.29 percent.

The 113th state House District in Shelton covers a northern section of the city along the Housatonic River.
Perillo, state House Republican Whip, was first elected to the House in 2007. Parkins is the current chair of the Shelton Planning and Zoning Commission.

Polls will be open until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Shelton's primary is one of several held throughout the state today.
