Shelton School Food Bank Seeks Holiday Donations to Help Residents

The Shelton School Food Bank is asking for turkeys, non-perishable food items, cash and gift cards for those in need this holiday season.

The Shelton School Food Bank is asking for help from the community to help make local residents in need have happy holidays.

Here are ways you can help, from the Shelton School Holiday Food Drive:

Make a Food Donation:

Need fixings for Holiday dinner: stuffing, gravy, box potatoes, cranberry sauce, olives, nuts, holiday plates and napkins. Plus stock groceries: mac&cheese, pasta and pasta sauce, soup, cereal, rice, canned veggies, beans, peanut butter & jelly, cake and cookie mixes. ONLY packaged and canned food items accepted due to collection and distribution timespans. Please mind the expiration dates.

Donate a Gift Card:

Donate a gift card to a Shelton or nearby store or grocery that we will pass on to the parents to supplement the meal with fresh foods or add to a teen child’s Christmas surprises. Store types: Stop & Shop, Shop Rite, Walmart, Subway, Kohl’s, target, Starbucks or Game Stop.

Donate a Frozen Turkey:

The Shelton High Cooperative Work Experience is holding a Turkey Drive on November 13th at the Shelton High School football game. Please bring a frozen turkey donation to the game! Look for students in turkey hats and the Shelton Schools Food Bank sign and drop your turkey in their truck located outside the football field entry gate.

Adopt a Family:

Do it alone or gather a few co-workers or friends. We assign you to a family, based on your request, ranging from 1 to 5 children. We provide you the Christmas “wish list” of each child with their age, likes, clothing sizes and shop and donate a few gifts for each child in your adopted family. Always nice to include a small gift for Mom and Dad too.

Make a Cash Contribution:

All donations to Shelton School Food Bank are used to purchase food or Holiday gifts for the families. The Food Bank is run 100% on volunteer time and in-kind donations. We have no staff or operating expenses.
